Stone flooring refers to the use of natural stone materials as a surface covering for floors in residential, commercial, and outdoor spaces. These materials are extracted from quarries and processed into tiles or slabs for installation. There are various types of stone flooring such as marble, granite, sandstone, slate, travertine etc.
But today as we are talking about evergreen options in flooring, marble flooring is undoubtedly the one that has passed the test of time due to its classic elegance, luxurious appearance, and enduring appeal. Its natural beauty and versatility have made it a popular choice for centuries, gracing the floors of palaces, temples, and upscale residences around the world.

While not as hard as granite, marble is still highly durable and can withstand heavy foot traffic when properly maintained. It’s resistant to scratching and can last for decades if cared for correctly.
Marble naturally stays cool to the touch, making it an excellent choice for warm climates or areas where temperature regulation is important. The polished surface of marble reflects light, helping to brighten up interior spaces and create a sense of openness and airiness.
Hence marble, with its luxurious appearance and enduring appeal, exudes sophistication and adds a touch of timeless grandeur to any space. Its natural beauty, durability, and ability to withstand the test of time make it a premier choice for those seeking opulence and refinement in their interiors.
2. Wood

Wooden floorings are available in a wide range of wood species, colours, grains, and finishes, wooden flooring offers abundant options to suit various interior styles and preferences. There are basically two types of Wooden flooring:
a. Solid Wood Flooring
Solid wood flooring is a classic and luxurious option known for its timeless beauty, durability, and natural appeal. It’s made from a single piece of solid wood, typically harvested from hardwood trees like oak, maple, cherry, or walnut.
To ensure the longevity and beauty of solid wood flooring, regular maintenance is essential.
Below are some maintenance tips for solid wood flooring
Sweep or vacuum regularly: Remove dirt, dust, and debris to prevent scratching and surface damage.
Clean spills promptly: Wipe up spills immediately to prevent moisture penetration and staining.
Protect from furniture: Use felt pads or furniture glides to prevent scratches and dents caused by furniture movement.
Recoat or refinish as needed: Depending on wear and tear, recoat or refinish the flooring every few years to maintain its appearance and durability.
Control humidity levels: Maintain consistent humidity levels in the indoor environment to prevent wood expansion or contraction.
b. Engineered wood
Engineered wood is a type of composite wood product made by binding together layers of wood veneers or strands with adhesives to create a stable and durable material.
Unlike solid wood, which is made from a single piece of timber, engineered wood is constructed from multiple layers, often with alternating grain directions, which enhances its strength and stability. The top layer of engineered wood typically consists of a thin slice of hardwood veneer, providing the natural beauty and aesthetic of real wood, while the underlying layers, usually made of plywood, HDF (High-Density Fibreboard), or particleboard, contribute to its structural integrity and resistance to moisture.
The benefits of engineered wood flooring, including its stability, moisture resistance, durability, versatility, easy installation, and environmental friendliness, make it a highly suitable option for home interiors. It is long lasting and gives the warmth of the wood as well.
