Contemporary Terrace with Zen factor – Material & Colour Selection
Hey… good to see you again on my blog. This time I am going to take you through material and colour palette of this Contemporary terrace with Zen factor. In introduction blog of this space, we have explained in detail all the requirements and checked them all during designing.
Just to give a brief, below were some of the specific requirements that we could infer from our meetings and discussions. Here I am also specifying how we achieved them
Greenery – though plants and turf
Privacy – By providing ceiling and blocking view from upper floor
Storage – achieved through properly using space below seating
Easy to maintain – providing wooden tiles
Peace & Tranquillity – through the calm colour palette
Buddha – Provision for placing statue
Material Selection
Material selection was very important for this space as this is an outdoor space and durability is very important. We used all the material which can withstand environmental condition
Plywood BWR Grade: We used BWR grade plywood which is Highly water resistant and best suited for outdoor furniture
Pine wood: We also used pine wood and it is because of two reasons. Firstly, it has resistance against decay and rot. Secondly, it has in itself a natural design which is aesthetically pleasing.
Wooden tiles: To make the space rough and tough we used wooden plank tiles which can withstand extreme conditions. Apart from durability this is also aesthetically pleasing.
Faux wooden False ceiling: We had made use of faux wooden false ceiling which is also a suitable material for outdoor. Apart from being durable these are a very cost-effective solution for outdoor space.
Artificial Grass turf: Artificial grass turf is really a go to thing if you want to have that green element inside. Along with being cost effective it gives a whole new feel to any space. The only thing is it accumulates dust and needs regular vacuum cleaning
So below you can see the material palette that we have discussed above. I feel material we have selected is really going well with the concept and looks cohesive and earthy.
Below is rough 3D that we have prepared for this terrace area that we have created for RaMa to give an idea how the space looks. They seem to be really happy let’s see in the final blog post on this area and how the space looks overall.
